I Should Be So Lucky UK And Ireland Tour
Muddy Stilettos 7/2/24
It was Bonnie (Kayla Carter) who stole the show for me with her solo of I Should Be So Lucky, although Ella’s bestie Michael (Scott Paige), hotel manager Spencer (Jamie Chapman), and Ella’s dad Big Mike (Gary Davis) deserve shout outs for delivering the best gags throughout.

And what comedy. Although every single member of the cast provides a fantastic comic cameo (and appears to be having a ball in the process), I have to single out Gary Davis as Barry Fife, the egotistic dance federation president who wants to ruin Scott’s career. It is a monstrously entertaining caricature which provides some fantastic absurd moments, with the extra bonus of Davis’s fine singing voice. At one point Mark Sangster (as Scott’s henpecked dad) and Quinn Patrick (as Les, Scott’s mum’s dance partner) join him in a Three Amigos-style trio that brings the house down.
Gary Davis was fantastic Barry Fife the sleazy Australian Dance Federation President.
Gary Davis cuts an overbearing, almost Trumpian figure, as the corrupt president of the dance federation, Barry Fife.
while he looked way too much like ex-President Trump for comfort, Gary Davis was truly horrible as Barry Fife, adding a lot of comic relief to the show, particularly when in bed.

The evil machinations of Ballroom supremo, Barry Fife, played with relish and an impressive set of pipes by Gary Davis, are nicely paced.
Cornwall Live
Operatic Gary Davis is excellent as much-feared dance judge Barry Fife

Gary Davis is also hilarious as the uncouth, skirt chasing Barry Fife, particularly in the ‘flashback’ scene.

Gary Davis is wonderfully villainous as Barry Fife. Davis’ vocals are very powerful and a joy to listen to, even if his songs aren’t necessarily the best in the show.
A Small Mind at the Theatre
The best performances though lie in the hands of the older members of the cast. Gary Davis is fab-u-lous as Barry Fife, head of the Dance Federation. Part Donald Trump, part Sir Les Patterson, sexually predatory his character for the most lurid moments of the show, but, you can't help but like him, but hate yourself at the same time for laughing at his antics.
North West End UK - Edinburgh Playhouse:
Gary Davis is always entertaining as the buffoon, Ballroom judge Barry Fife and has a superb singing voice, so not surprising to see his many Operatic credits in the programme.
